Katherine Emel was taken into custody without bail on Wednesday after being arrested for the murder of William Carter, her boyfriend and father of two. The incident occurred in Norristown, Pennsylvania in January, and it is suspected that Emel tipped off one of the men involved in the murder about Carter’s gambling winnings.
According to reports, Emel received $700 from Daquan Allen after the murder, one of the three suspects involved. The other two suspects are Damon Brantley Jr., 18, and Jerry Butler, 28. Additionally, there is a fourth suspect who is a juvenile. Brantley is accused of being the one who pulled the trigger in the murder of Carter. All four suspects are scheduled to attend a preliminary court hearing on February 16.
The events leading up to Carter’s death were captured on surveillance footage, which showed the suspects ambushing him when he went to retrieve money from his car. After robbing him, one of the suspects, believed to be Brantley, shot Carter in the head.
Before the murder, Emel allegedly provided Carter’s location to the suspects and was in contact with Allen multiple times. She also informed Allen about Carter’s $3,000 gambling winnings. In an effort to make it easier to track Carter, Emel placed a tracking device in the trunk of her vehicle, which Carter was driving at the time of the incident.
At the time of his death, Carter was visiting his one-year-old daughter. Emel has been charged with second-degree murder for her involvement in the case. The news of the incident was initially reported by Vegas Slots Online News.
